In the same way a car manufacturer introduces a new model and a software developer upgrades their software, Studio22 continues to work on upgrades and improvements to our products. As the photo book market expands and competition grows, we find ways to produce books more efficiently, avoid incurring addition costs and improve quality. Our popular coffee table book range, Espresso and Cappuccino are undergoing a few improvements.

What to expect in 2011:

1. Upgrade to Enviro at no extra cost:
The Enviro paper option offered by Studio22 is 100% environmentally friendly. As a combination of our contribution to the environment and my personal liking to the texture of this paper, we are now offering it no additional fee.
 
2. New matt cover material:
The new matt cover in combination with the new manufacturing technique, creates a more durable cover from this job specific material. As photo books are now so popular, manufacturers have produced materials better suited to short production runs. The new thinner surface not only simplifies production, it also offers a visually richer image and tougher final product with ‘scuff resistant’ surface.

3. New binding technique:
The purchase of our new binding equipment allows us to produce a narrower spine. This in turn makes for a smoother page flow and smaller gutter. It also eliminates the need for a blank starting page. The book will now open directly to the first printed page – page 1 on the right.

4. New cover manufacturing technique:
Although this is not visually noticeable, it increases workflow, production and longevity. Increased workflow and production means price increases are minimised (no increase in over 18 months). We incorporated a dry gluing technique to speed up the finishing process, at the same time, by minimising the use of wet glue we eliminate the risks involved with moisture effects and drying. We have also reduced the vapours associated with certain glues, making a healthier working environment.  

All these changes are available in the books produced on our current free Studio22 Album Maker software. Although the Enviro paper may not show as free until the next software upgrade, this will be deducted by our sales team before billing (our software allows you to submit your order without payment on the site).
